Skyrmions in magnetic systems
Magnetic skyrmions are spin textures with intriguing topological properties that make them promising candidates for a variety of technological applications. In this talk, I will start with a brief introduction to magnetic skyrmions, going over first experiments, relevant properties, potential applications and simple theoretical models where they are stabilized. Then, I will present an overview of our line work in these last few years, combining numerical and analytical methods to explore different types of skyrmion systems. In particular, I will describe our study on MnSc2S4, where through experimental measurements, analytical models and Monte Carlo simulations, we find evidence of the stabilization of fractional antiferromagnetic skyrmions at finite magnetic field and temperature.
