“Viscoplastic thin film flows — uplift of an elastic membrane and sessile drop coalescence”

Complex liquids with a non-Newtonian behaviour can be found in a myriad of processes in the food industry, cosmetics and the oil and gas industry, to name but a few. Viscoplastic liquids flow when subjected to a stress larger than their yield stress. In this talk I will show how viscoplastic liquids influence the flow of some classical thin film flow, i.e. the coalescence of sessile drops and the uplift of an elastic membrane. In addition, I will give a brief overview of some of the problems and topics that the research group is currently working on.
