Abstract :
What kind of many-body systems mimics gravity? In this talk, I will introduce some recent developments on this question inspired by the fracton states of matter. I will show that a fracton model defined in anti-de Sitter (AdS) space captures a few major properties of gravity in AdS in the context of AdS/CFT duality. These properties are the quantum-informational aspect properties of gravity, including the Ryu-Takayanagi formula for boundary entanglement entropy and subregion duality. After briefly reviewing these properties, I will explain what are fractons, and demonstrate how a simple fracton toy model in AdS space satisfies these properties. Some deeper speculations will also be discussed.
