Juho Lintuvuori is a CNRS researcher in the Laboratoire Ondes et Matière d’Aquitaine (LOMA) at the university of Bordeaux and is a member of the Soft Matter & Biophysics team.

Overview

Simulations of soft condensed materials

I am interested of the coupling between dynamics and internal order in soft deformable materials. Examples of this from my recent work include trapped metastable states in colloid-chiral liquid crystal composites, (hydro)dynamics of microswimmers near surfaces and boundary induced states observed with self-propelled dry granular particles.

Open Positions

We are very interested to hear from candidates who have a keen interest of simulation studies in the area of soft matter physics.

Master project (M1 & M2)

We have current openings for M1 and M2 students (2018-2019), both in lattice Boltzmann modelling of  liquid crystal emulsions as well as an exciting opportunity to carry out either simulation, theory or experimental studies of self-propelling systems, in collaboration with Alois Würger (theory), Hamid Kellay and Thomas Barois (experiments) as well as with Juho Lintuvuori (simulations). For further information see this flyer.

PhD positions

We have an opening for a PhD position in lattice Boltzmann simulations of microswimmers in complex environments starting in the fall 2019. The position is funded by the Ecole Doctorale of the University of Bordeaux. For more information, see this flyer.

Postdoctoral positions

We have an opening for an IdEx Bordeaux funded post-doctoral position in hydrodynamic modelling of complex fluids (e.g. liquid crystals or microswimmers). Especially welcome (but not limited) are applications from candidates with an experience and interest in simulations of liquid crystals.

Application consists of a CV, full publication list, a cover letter and the contact details of three references. These should be sent to Juho Lintuvuori (juho.lintuvuori _at_ u-bordeaux.fr) preferably in pdf format. For more information, see this flyer.
